HISTORY

The origins of what is now known as Talleres Navales Bercovich S.A. de C.V. began in the city of Puerto Peñasco, Sonora. In that city, the Bercovich family was a pioneer in the construction of wooden boats.

Mr. Leobardo Bercovich Loshe, taking into account the prior knowledge he had from his family, made the decision to move to the city of La Paz, B.C.S., to start a naval company and also to generate employment.

On June 1st, 1982, TANABESA was founded, and together with his children, Mr. Leobardo began shaping what the company is today.

Currently, the company has over 40 years of experience and more than three generations dedicated to the naval sector, positioning itself as one of the best naval companies in the state.

“THE BALANDRA MUSHROOM SCAR”

In 1993, the Balandra Rock, an icon of La Paz and Baja California Sur, had to be restored after some tourists knocked it down by climbing on it. Two to three years later, due to structural failures, this repair collapsed.

It remained down until 2005, when three brothers (Leobardo, Abel, and Eduardo Bercovich) took it upon themselves to properly restore it. This was a completely voluntary and social effort in support of the state of BCS and the port of La Paz.

Today, the Balandra Mushroom has stood for nearly 20 years.
